Winx trainer Waller has announced that he will delay the return of Winx until March 3rd when the mare will be presented at Royal Randwick to take part in the 1600m Chipping Norton Stakes. Waller decided to take this action to help Bowman retain the amount. The mare will then be at Rosehill gardens where she will contest the 1500m Group One George Ryder Stakes. Winning these two races will extend her winning streak to 24 successive wins. If it comes to pass, it will give her the opportunity to match Black Caviar’s record (25successive wins) which took place at the Royal Randwick on the 14th of April.
Meanwhile, Waller has announced that he will only unveil Winx’s race program for the year after contesting the George Ryder Stakes. He hinted that he is considering taking the mare to race in Royal Ascot carnival in England in June.
Bowman will contest Chipping Norton Stakes after serving two suspensions. Even though, Waller has said that it would be inviting to have Winx take part in the highly valued Queen Elizabeth stakes if the mare had a chance to win and match Black Caviars record. Already the TAB opened the betting for the Queen Elizabeth races market with Winx is enjoying $1.40 followed by Humidor at $11. Winix had been scheduled to make a comeback in the 1400m Apollo Stakes on the 17th of February, but Waller changed the program after Bowman’s appeal against careless riding suspension was dismissed.
Waller said that Hugh Bowman has had a good racing relationship with Winx and feels that it will not be fair to let any other Jockey ride her. He has therefore decided that Winx will head straight to the Clipping Norton without taking part in the 1400m Apollo Stakes as he had planned. This is a 1600m race. It will be her longest race this season, but Waller is confident that Winx has a great racing ability and the talent that will help her win the race. He said that the mare races well and all he has to do at the moment is to try and give her a third trial to increase her level of fitness. This will allow her to compete when she is at her best. He also said that Winx owner is also reluctant to breakup Winx- Bowman combination which has enabled them to win 21 races including winning 19 races in succession.
