English racing officials are camping in Sydney with an objective of meeting the owner and the trainer of Winx to craft details on an extended European campaign that is always reserved for the world’s best racehorse. Nick Smith the Royal Ascot’s recruiter, York’s Chief executive William Derby and Director Adam Waterworth have all joined forces and redirected their effort to luring Winx managers to race the horse overseas this year.
The team met Debbie Keptitis today (Monday) to plan how they will discuss the campaign with Chis Waller as well as the co-owner Peter Tighe. The English Race club has revealed that Winx is its number one priority and are also targeting Russian Revolution and Redzel. They said that they are also targeting Her Time Newcastle’s top mare as well as the colt Merchant Navy from Melbourne.
However, it is important to state here that Waller will only announce Winx long-term program after she contests the 1500m Group 1 George Ryder Stake which will be held on the 24th of March at Rosehill Garden.
Smith has indicated that Winx has plenty of options to choose from if Waller decides to take her to Europe late this year. “So far we have tracks from France, the UK as well as Ireland to help design the possible races for Winx’’ he added. Smith said that one of the logical targets is the Queen Anne Stakes which will be held at the Royal Ascot. She also has a chance to run in the locking Stakes which will be held at Lockinge Stakes 3 weeks earlier. Smith said that they are informed that Winx is one of the top Sydney’s horses and they understand that she must take part in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes which remains an important race in the autumn carnival.
It is important to note that Chris Waller must sit with his team to consider the possibility of Winx going overseas and if he decides to go there, it will just be a hit and run at Royal Ascot she may target other races such as Goodwood’s Sussex Stakes and the York’s Juddimonte International.
Smith noted that he is already received vibes from Peter Snowden which shows that Redzel and Everest are important horses and so they have included Redzel in the next year’s trip. This means that they already have Russian Revolution coming with them.
