The Ever-Rising Mark Purdon’s Lazarus

Lazarus trainer-driver Mark Purdon has indicated that the horse is getting better each passing day. The mare is fast becoming the Winx of Harness and fans seem to be getting excited by his performance. Fans who have in the past watched Winx in awe are now looking forward to a horse of their own, and their prayers seem to have been answered in Lazarus.  Hes who won the Perth Inter Dominion raid last year.

Lazarus who was trained in New Zealand by Natalie Rasmussen and Mark Purdon is eyeing the Gloucester Park’s biggest races before moving to Sydney and Melbourne. Lazarus is also expected to take part in the Friday’s $350,000 Group 1 Fremantle Cup. In this race, Lazarus will start at gate five and is already commanding $1.30 fixed odds favorite. Apparently, the TAB second best Ultimate Machete who will start from gate two was also trained by Purdon and Rasmussen.

On Friday, Lazarus will take part in the Fremantle cup in the inter-Dominion Champion. Even though the mare may not boast of a winning streak associated with Winx, he has an impressive record. He has won 34 races out of 41 starts. He has won a total of $3.5 million cash prize. No wonder that a lot of praises have been heaped on him by the visiting North American Driving stars Marcus Miller who had an opportunity to watch him win the inter-Dominion race in Gloucester Park.  According to him, Lazarus was as good as any other pacer in the world.

After taking part in the Fremantle cup, Winx will also take part in the $400,000 Group 1 WA Pacing Cup. He is expected to remain dominant at the Gloucester Park on January 19, 2018.

On February 3, he will be in Melbourne to take part in the Hunter Cup before moving to Sydney to take part in the Miracle Mile and the lead-up race.

Purdon said that although he has had an opportunity to train some of the best horses, he believes that Lazarus is the best of all.  The horse is a bit special, and he is getting better every new day.  Even though, it is unanimously agreed that Purdon and Rasmussen have the strongest stable in the racing world. They have produced stars like Ultimate Machete, Heaven Rocks, Titan Banner and Vincent. At this rate, it is believed that Rasmussen and Purdon could have a minimum of 5 horses out of 8 horses that will take part in the $750,000 Miracle Mile on the 24th of February.
