Sydney’s top rider Hugh Bowman who is also the holder of the World’s Best Jockey Title in 2017 will be riding Jonker who is considered the favorite in the $2million Magic 2YO Classic. Meanwhile, Jonker’s owner and David Atkins will meet this week to discuss the riding options in the glamour Gold Coast race.
Jonker has won the colt’s two wins. He was ridden by Aaron Bullock. He won the Wyong Magic Millions last week and is expected to win the Magic Millions. This is why the nation’s top Jockey Bowman will be given the opportunity to saddle Jonker in the race.
Currently, Bowman is in Japan but is expected to return and partner with Jonker the $3.50 favorite to try and win the Magic million’s race on the 13th of January.
In the meantime, other potential rivals in the Magic Million race will get the opportunity to participate in the Royal Randwick this coming Saturday. The new year’s Royal Randwick Plate (1100m) has attracted a strong field of young horses including paul Snowden Trained Legislation who is the $3.20 favorite. Notice that Everard ($26) and Fearless Girl ($7) must win this coming Saturday to secure a chance in the Magic Million Field. Fearless Girl is gifted and has shown that she has the ability after winning the two barrier trial at Warwick farm and Hawkesbury. The sterling performance gave Adrian Bott confidence that she can compete against the Legislation. The fearless girl looks like a natural runner even though she is still being trained. The trainer acknowledges that the race a head is competitive and they are aware that this is not her race. However, he is encouraged by the fact that she is up to the task and could compete favorably in the Magic Million race and will be on the Gold Coast just to watch her.
Meanwhile, Bott has revealed that he will today watch Cabez De Vaca Contest in Bernborough. The contest was listed $300,000, but Cabeza De Vaca will be racing for over 192,000 first prize money. However, if he wins the Bernborough Handicap, he will be eligible for over $50,000 bonus. Bott said that Bernborough had a tough run in the village and pulled up well, so they decided to try him at the Bernborough. He is in an excellent order ever since he arrived at Brisbane and he is fit and in a good racing form. The mare will be saddled with Baster who is expected to carry his Melbourne form to Brisbane.
